Are you interested in joining the Happy Dance Quilting team? We’re a small, but growing company and are always looking for new talent in all areas of our business.

Available Positions

Sewing Person

Position Details

You’ll help create t-shirt quilts by doing the sewing parts: piecing quilts that are cut and designed in house, cutting and attaching borders, binding finished quilts. It’s all straight seams, but t-shirt and performance materials can be tricky to work with, so it requires some aptitude.

Our work atmosphere is laid back and autonomous. You can listen to your own music/podcasts/audiobooks, don’t have to interact with customers, and can set your own schedule (though initially will need to come in at the same time as an experienced person for training)

Job Requirements

  • Be comfortable using a sewing machine
  • Enjoy being detail oriented. Every job listing says this, right? But really, you won’t like this job if you don’t enjoy getting granular and paying attention to the little things. No one likes to have to constantly reach for the seam ripper because yet another block was sewn in sideways…

Starting Pay: $13/hour

Hours: Part-time, make your own schedule. We’re busiest from the Christmas season (starting around Oct) through graduation (mid-May).

Cutting Person

Position Details

You’ll do the design and cutting part of the t-shirt quilt creation process.

Our work atmosphere is laid back and autonomous. You can listen to your own music/podcasts/audiobooks, don’t have to interact with customers, and can set your own schedule (though initially will need to come in at the same time as an experienced person for training)

Job Requirements

  • Enjoy being detail oriented. Every job listing says this, right? But really, you won’t like this job if you don’t enjoy getting granular and paying attention to the little things. The shirts and other clothing material you’ll be working with are irreplaceable, and being inattentive (for example, cutting a shirt the wrong size) can lead to major problems
  • Be comfortable with computers and technology
  • Have a basic feel for design and color balance. No formal training required, just an overall sense of what makes for good design

Longarmer

Position Details

You will quilt pieced quilt tops and t-shirt quilts. Find our more about longarm quilting here.

This particular position is a job of a million details. If you habitually space out, this will not be a good fit.
  • Be comfortable with machinery. Longarm quilting machines require a lot of troubleshooting in addition to their normal operation. While we’ll train you on our machines and their troubleshooting, having a baseline interest/level of expertise with machinery/working with your hands will be a big help. Basic knowledge of sewing machines is a plus, but not required
  • Be comfortable with computers. Our machines are automated, so you’ll need to interface with them through software
  • Be able to stand for extended periods of time and have decent upper body strength.
  • Have a basic feel for color balance. No formal training required, just an overall sense for what colors work well together.
